Frank Mansell

Frank Mansell was a Board member and Executive Officer of the Board of the Big Brother Movement and its successor, today's BBM Ltd, from 1974 until his retirement in 1994.

When he was appointed BBM secretary in 1947, the organisation, in partnership with the Australian Government, operated Australia’s largest and most successful youth migration scheme which saw thousands of young men from the UK migrate to Australia to work in agriculture and many trades.

In 1982 the sponsored migration scheme ended, and the organisation, under Frank Mansell’s leadership, sold its assets, including a Training Farm and accommodation, and invested the funds to establish the BBM Ltd of today.

It was Mansell’s leadership that turned the organisation’s purpose, after nearly six decades of supporting young people to migrate from the UK to Australia, to supporting young Australians to travel overseas for work experience.

The Global Footprints Scholarships are the legacy of the ‘Little Borthers’ who migrated with the movement, of the organisation that supported them and the vision of Frank Mansell who upheld the BBM commitment to supporting young people to leave global footprints in pursuit of personal and professional growth for a better future.
