Agriculture - Mixed Farming
How we grow and harvest crops is continually evolving and so is the management of our livestock. I find it inspirational to learn how different countries are putting into practice different technology to improve sustainability, productivity and environmental issues. Regardless of our climate or environmental challenges, there are threads of similarity and so there is always something to grow and take from it.
A global response to sustainability by sharing information and practices is so valuable, not only for Australian Agriculture, but so we can all learn together.
As an industry, we need to keep up with technology and its changes. How we grow and harvest crops is continually evolving and so is the management of our livestock. We need to keep learning and improving these practices and I would very much like the opportunity to learn this from a leading country overseas.
I am very keen to understand better long term sustainability practices and environmental impact. Minimising waste in agriculture is also important, for example awareness of non perfection vegetables or fruits which are now starting to be sold in small local outlets. They are now selling non perfect produce and this significantly helps small local growers, it helps sustainability by limiting travelling and cost effectiveness. These are also areas that interest me. Creating better communication in this area of sustainability will also help consumers make more informed decisions on alternatives as to where they can purchase food. I would very much like to understand how different countries are managing these issues as well.
“Fredric is a very impressive candidate who is exploring the world of agriculture from multiple perspectives. Wonderful to see someone from an urban background seeing agriculture as their future.”
